Plaquenil, hydroxychloroquine HCQ, is an anti-malarial medication that has been proven to be useful in the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis RA, systemic lupus erythematosus SLE and other inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Hello everyone, I am new to the board and would like to say hi to everyone! I have a question about Cellcept. I take 4,000 mg 8 a day along with Plaquenil and about 10 other medications for Lupus, Scleroderma and Raynaud's. So far it has worked! I started taking 1500-2000 mg a day and am currently taking 750 mg a day. when I drop down to 500 mg my lupus starts to flare up. If given the option of Methotrexate, or Cytoxan both are chemotherapy drugs or CellCept, I would take the CellCept hands down!

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

I have been on cellcept for about 2 years now due to kidney failure which ended up giving me a diagnosis of Lupus in full scale attack mode. I also was on plaquenil but went off it about a year ago. The amount of cellcept I was taking at first was 3000 mg a day which I have managed to reduce it to 750 mg a day with no real side effects to speak of. I started taking Cellcept for Lupus and Sjogren's three days ago. I had to stop my Imuran but still take Plaquenil.
