Ok, I get this. I don't have any pain, but it kinda feels like I'm in water and you have that pressure on your chest. I feel it mostly on top, like where my breasts start. I do get short of breath sometimes when I'm off the Pred and I'm doing things. I'm retaining water, my hands are swollen and I pee 3-5x's a night. The other problem I am having is chest pain. I do have to admitt that since stopping the Plaquenil my liver pain has eased somewhat, but I do still get it on and off. But I was getting it a few months ago when my liver enzymes were normal, so I think there is definately a bit of research to do there. Questions About Chest Pain And Liver. Plaquenil is the brand name for the prescription drug hydroxychloroquine. It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Plaquenil is prescribed as a disease-modifier, in other words, to decrease pain, decrease swelling, and prevent joint damage and disability. It is not known how Plaquenil works but researchers believe that Plaquenil interferes with communication between cells within the immune system. Ultimately, it is thought to block proinflammatory. I was finally diagnosed with lupus about 6 months later and the plaquenil and prednisone reduced the pain but it honestly took more than a year after that to stop hurting every day. I don’t have any cures for you but try taking Tylenol twice a day and using a heating pad on your chest.

How to Succeed in Plaquenil Screenings Because early toxicity changes can be revealed on SD-OCT, it is prudent to perform a baseline screening of patients taking Plaquenil. Multifocal ERG has the ability to detect early macular dysfunction, so it should be included as part of baseline screening. A maximum daily dose of Plaquenil of 5.0mg/kg real weight is recommended.
